» CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character NAME: Loki Laufeyson (formerly Odinson)
Canon & MEDIUM: Marvel's Earth-199999 | Films
Canon PULL-POINT: Loki will be post-Thor, yet pre-Avengers; directly after he's assumed to be caught and "rescued" from his own self-exile from Asgard by the Chitauri.
Character AGE: Over the thousands; he has no explicitly stated age.
Character ABILITIES:
⥁ superhuman capabilites } Loki possesses superhuman strength, reflexes, durability and longevity. He's not a "god", but he is an alien with much stronger capabilities than that of a human. He's been seen to be able to overpower even some Avengers members physically, such is his strength. His reflexes are demonstrated in The Avengers, when he catches an arrow shot at him before it is able to hit. He is able to take a very ferocious Hulk-smashing and remain living, though roughed up. His longevity is apparent in his age, shared by others in Asgard and Jotunheim.

⥁ sorcery } Loki possesses a great affinity for Asgardian magic and sorcery. Having grown up with warriors all his life, he spent his share of that time perfecting his magic instead -- ranging from offensive to defensive, from tricks to attacks. He can use it to influence the minds of others, as well as duplicate himself to distract foes and even disguise himself in different degrees of clothing.

⥁ jotun heritage } Loki is of Jotun lineage, so he is a child of frost giants. With that comes the above noted superhuman strength and skills, as well as his increased magical capabilities. It also gives him blue skin and red eyes, and an (assumed) skill with ice-based magics and attacks, though he hasn't ever been seen to use them (and for my own purposes would probably be rubbish with it to start).

Character PERSONALITY:
Loki is very many things. He is calculated, he is manipulative, he is secretive, and he is even a bit childish. He can be impulsive and he can be selfish, and he will go to any lengths to get what he wants. He is not impulsive in every situation, however, as he has been known and seen to construct very elaborate plans and distractions for those who would get in his way. Things that otherwise you would not realise he was the architect of, before it is too late. To begin to pick apart and understand Loki, we must first consider the thing he wants above all else: power over Asgard, and with it, acceptance. Loki wants the throne, and he absolutely, 100% believes himself worthy of it. More worthy than his brother Thor, and more worthy even than the current king -- Odin -- who sits upon it. Truly, every great plan, master scheme and grand distraction that Loki orchestrates for his foes are all with the very same goal in mind: become the (rightful, much better) ruler of Asgard. It is this he wants above all things, through a calculated journey with minor sympathetic hiccups, to a perfect world for him where he is made validated -- where he is worked into his own Platonic image of himself.

Raised in a warrior's society in Asgard as the secondary brother to his archetype-hero brother Thor, it is implied that Loki does not and had not fit into the environment in which he was raised. Where his counterparts were fighters, warriors and men and women of war, Loki was a sorcerer -- preferring magic, cunning, and tricks over the brute force hailed as king in his world. It is shown in brief during events in Thor that Loki -- known for his quick wit and way with words (be they truth or lies) -- is often dismissed when speaking, or separated from events in ways he would not otherwise be, were he not so different from his counterparts. However, it must be noted that how much of this dismissal and disrespect of him as an individual is truth, and how much of it is perceived by him where it is not occurring to the degree he truly believes it. In the case of my personal interpretation of Loki as an individual, I do believe he was outcast and picked upon, but not to the degree of extremity that he perceives. From this, however, Loki builds for himself his own narcissistic and self-serving coping method. He very much believes himself above all others, and his natural cunning and skill for lies and manipulation help him in his ultimate quest to acquire the respect that he believes (and knows) he deserves.

A wrench is thrown into his already bubbling plans to overtake the throne and claim this respect and validation for himself when he discovers that he is Jotun, and not of Asgard at all. Discovering that he is a frost giant and that Odin has lied to him all this time, Loki is stunned into tears. In a way, this discovery completely validates every belief he's had of those who would disrespect and pick upon him in Asgard. No wonder he was so different. No wonder he was so outcast. No wonder he was not ever given the truest opportunity to rightfully, and without force, take over the throne of Asgard. Were he not already justifying his actions for himself based on his own perceived notions, he was now one-hundred percent justified in his detestation of his fellow Asgardians for he was not truly one of them. Loki feels betrayed and in that betrayal he finds fuel for his fire.

Beyond Loki's upbringing and his subsequent discovery of his Jotun heritage, it is believed that he was born mischievous, witty and cunning. He played tricks as a child and often got into trouble, but not of a malicious nature. However, his skills in this grew and grew until he became an adult -- until he began to justify his own actions and began to seek his desired respect. Loki is a master manipulator. He is seen using his emotions to distract and guilt Thor all while intending to defeat him in battle. He is seen lying to Thor, easily putting on the façade required to convince him that their father has died. Even knowing Loki for his entire life, Thor is still capable of being manipulated by him; proof that Loki is very skilled at deception, as well as that Loki knows how to use his own personal relationships with others to his own advantage without regard for their effect on others. Loki does things for himself, foremost and always, and sees no issue in the sacrifice of those closest to him.

When Thor is angry with the development of frost giants making their way into Asgard, Loki is the one to plant the seed into his mind to go into Jotunheim and wage war against them preemptively -- all while knowing that Thor was headstrong enough to do it, and counting on that fact. Loki plans his schemes very much in advance, and almost all of them are fail-safe; should he lose, he is not really losing. We don't see this in Thor so much as we see it in The Avengers, and so I will forgo that tale for now, as he is pulled from before that point. In Thor he does the very basic weaving of plans, of planting seeds in Thor's mind to send him into battle and subsequently demonstrate to Odin that Thor is not worthy of the throne and getting his brother out of his way for his own ultimate schemes. He is the one to get rid of the obstacle of his brother, to take advantage of the timing of events in Odin's Odinsleep, and to claim Asgard's throne for his own for a short period of time.

In conclusion, Loki is intelligent. He knows how to keep the secrets of his intentions, and how to put on a façade even of failure. He is manipulative. He is selfish to the highest degree. He truly believes himself deserving of so many things that he has absolutely no qualms with taking them at whatever means necessary. He is deserving of respect. He is deserving of Asgard, by his very nature. He need not go the diplomatic route to acquire the throne -- it is already his, rightfully, and so it is his place to take it. It is Loki's place to do a great many things for himself, and he is not one bit guilty for any of it.

» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON: Loki will choose a glaive from the armory.
Chosen SKILLSET: Loki is very much a schemer before he is a fighter, but that doesn't mean he keeps himself away from battle. He'll be avoidant of it, but not excessively, and he makes an equal diplomat as he does fighter. However, he is probably the last person you'd wish for a diplomatic job that you intend favourable results from.

First PERSON:
( voice. )

[ The voice heard over the network is calm, careful, and sounds almost a hint of amused. That is very much not how this individual is feeling, but it's certainly the way he seems. For now. ]

This is a turn of events unlike those previously expected. Some of us have important matters to attend in lands they once called their home. I am not foolish enough to dully request some way back into the realms with which I'm the most familiar, and I'll spare you the emotional details that no doubt have been spilled in this venue previous.

It is obvious enough that I, and many others, I'm sure -- are absolutely tickled to be here. [ His voice is rife with loathing, and that is evident above all else. He stops, spends a few moments considering his next words, and begins to speak again after a few more seconds. ]

This could be a realm of great opportunity, but for that I require information -- and you'll be the ones to give it to me.

I look forward to it. Just as you ought.

» ADDITIONAL NOTES
Small gaps in film canon will be supplemented with information gleaned from Loki's personality, experiences and motivations in Earth-616. Many of (though not all) his underlying desires and behaviors are the same in that universe as they are in Earth-199999. For much of his childhood and time spent with his brother, Thor, that we do not see in the films, I will be using portions of 616 canon.
